Comments by Matt Fuerst Rating: 5 | A coworker, Dr. James Humanda Davies recommended Flats after previously recommending CJ's. CJ's was pretty good so we fast-tracked Flats. I had previously been in Flats during my earlier days when I abstained from chili and remembered the high quality chiquitas that worked there, so I had no problem at all with an afternoon trip. It happened to be Taco Tuesday (Good gopher work Everest) so I ordered a bowl of Tex Mex Chili and a couple tacos. Being the big baller that I am, I upgraded the onions and cheese. I was pretty excited.. we're in a place pushing it's Mexican, I ordered a bowl of TEX MEX CHILI. A slight twinge of pain remembering Poopy-gos entered my mind, but things were looking up. My chili arrived, and looked pretty standard. Some beans, some beef, a little chunk of tomato here and there. Sadly, the taste was pretty standard too. No particular spice or heat was present. I've almost reached the point in the trek here or just getting a standard line of "tastes normal, texture normal" and just copying and pasting it for most of these reviews. Flats did nothing to distiguish itself from the crowd. Taste, normal. Heat, or lack thereof - normal. Price, pretty much normal. There are some attractive women there, and they do may a very good hamburger (better than the more famous burgers of the Red Dog if you ask me). Avoid the tacos though, dry and overpriced at $.60. |
